Where’s your treasure?
What is it that you value most? What is most important to you? What is it that you treasure?
There’s a verse in the Bible:
‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ - Matthew 6:21
Simply put, it emphasises that whatever it is that you value most, that will guide your heart. For me, my faith is my treasure, this directs my heart & my values, the outpouring of this flows out to those around me, my family, my friends and all those I come across. For me, my faith is like a rock I stand on, a firm foundation & much needed in this very shaky world we live in.
Recently, I was chatting to a lady that works in the jewellery business. She mentioned that sometimes people come in with (what they think is a valuable treasure), maybe a string of pearls or such from an older family member. The hope is that what they bring in, has a high value, which would then flow onto receiving a ‘high price’. Sadly, often these ‘valuables’ are a cheap copy and hence of very little value.
So what is your treasure? Is it truly valuable or is it just a ‘cheap copy’. What is it that steers your heart?
Build Your House on the Rock:
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” - Matthew 7:24-27
Just a thought to consider…
